Last Clinic Day
What a whirlwind of a last day! Only partly due to the fact that I was running at about 60%! I had yet another translator, so I got to learn their unique words for translating (difficulties smelling is actually difficulties breathing, in case you were curious). We also had another teammate get sick so we were down to just me in triage. Which meant that I got to see every single patient! Cool! Exhausting! Humbling! Triage desk all to myself 😬 The best story of the day by far

A Collection of Short Stories
A short day but a good day :) so here’s a collection of short stories ;) Kurdish Church We only worked until two today because the church we are using as our clinic base has Kurdish services on Wednesday nights which they needed to set up for. Bummed that we couldn’t see as many patients but so in awe at this church which serves so many underserved and even hated groups. We have seen several Kurdish families, which always leads to double translations, so I hope what got throu

A Serenade!
I really am so blessed! Despite the short power outage, today ran very smoothly! God’s working in a lot of incredible ways (obviously) and I’m just so grateful I get to be a small part of it. We had a bunch of school children (possibly refugee orphans) come in for some medical attention today which was utter chaos as you would expect, but their adorable faces made the chaos bearable ;) they also came in two waves which made it more challenging but we handled it. During the fi

Teeth, Tears, Triage, Bubbles
First day of clinics was a success with over 250 patients between medical, dental, and vision! I probably got to see a third of those in triage today, which was crazy at times but so good. At one point I had eight people sitting at my table at one time!! They were all great but it was utter chaos trying to wrangle that many kids and papers and two of the little girls were wearing the same outfit which made it extra hard!! Like I’ve probably said a hundred times, these clinics

The One Who Spreads the Good News
Guys it was my favorite day — church day!! It always brings me to tears to hear worship in other languages. It’s just a little more of a glimpse into heaven :) The pastor talked about prayer today and preached from Matthew 6. (I even managed to find it in the Arabic Bible in the pew in front of us ;) (not that I could read it!)) it was so awesome — there were way more people in church than I expected! And our hosts provided us with translation headphones so we actually knew w

The Lord who Controls The Wind Knows Me By Name
If you have had the misfortune of talking to me over the last two weeks, you know I and my team were incredibly stressed about a notice we were all getting on our tickets: Restricted from traveling to or transiting through your destination Every agent we talked to said it was a known glitch and that it will all be resolved upon arrival to the airport. Still, there was a bigger than I’d like to admit part of me that was convinced that we would be turned away at the border! In
